So I ordered 3 of the 4 ships in this wave from one store on eBay that I trust and have used before... the Venator wasn’t available through them for some reason. Anyway, I ordered these all months ago, and also placed a separate order for a Venator with a store I’ve not used before, but it looked reputable. About two weeks ago, the Invisible Hand arrived at my door. I contacted the store and asked about the Pelta and Recusant, and was told the Pelta had been pushed back, and the Recusant delayed with no firm date announced. The other store hasn’t shipped the Venator yet, so I’m assuming that was also delayed. What is happening with this wave? How do you announce a street date for four ships, have one of them hit it, push a couple back, and indefinitely delay the fourth? Did the rest of the world get their ships, and I just ordered from the wrong places?

Name: Piett Ravager Faction: Imperial Commander: Admiral Piett Assault: Defense: Navigation: Gozanti Cruisers (23) • Comms Net (2) • Reserve Hangar Deck (3) = 28 Points Gozanti Cruisers (23) • Comms Net (2) • Reserve Hangar Deck (3) = 28 Points SSD Command Prototype (220) • Admiral Piett (22) • Damage Control Officer (5) • Director Krennic (8) • Reeva Demesne (4) • Take Evasive Action! (6) • Veteran Gunners (5) • SW-7 Ion Batteries (5) • H9 Turbolasers (8) • Ravager (4) = 287 Points Squadrons: • 5 x TIE Fighter Squadron (40) • Howlrunner (16) = 56 Points Total Points: 399 Obviously haven’t selected objectives yet. The idea here is that Ravager does everything, and the Gozantis are merely there for Comms Net support. Basically, one of them feeds Take Evasive Action each turn, while the other passes the SSD whichever token it happens to need to use Piett on. Take Evasive Action will sometimes provide all the maneuverability I need, but when it doesn‘t, it should be easy to get a second click with Piett turning a Nav token into a Nav dial. On the turns TEA does all the maneuvering I need, Piett can default to Engineering, or (if the timing is right), Squadrons, to push that light fighter screen around. With Ravager & Krennic, I’m imagining that ConFire dials all day will be what I want for Ravager itself. Why not Jerjerrod? 2-5 points of damage over the course of the game to never have to worry about a Nav command, for just one point more is a good deal, right? Well, sometimes it is, I suppose. And yes, there’s a hidden cost of 6 points in the Piett option for TEA. Arguably more, if you count the Comms Nets, and arguably, the Gozantis too. But here’s the thing: I’ve never yet found an SSD Assault Prototype fleet that I liked, that could reliably handle squadrons, or even slow them down. This fleet gives me three activations, several deployments, pretty damned decent firepower on the SSD, and takes full advantage of Krennic & Ravager, without damaging myself, and I think it even gives me the command flexibility to use Piett to really make Engineering tokens count. Gaining back 4-6 points of shields, and NOT taxing myself for 2-5 shields over the game’s course adds up. The fact that I can occasionally command squadrons is also good, but I have no illusions about this fighter screen; against a serious fighter presence, it’s a speed bump, nothing more. And that’s fine. Give me your thoughts and concerns and criticism! I’m the first to admit that I have had little success with the SSD, and I desperately want to believe that it can work, but I have no faith in the Jerjerrod Assault variants; they’re a pretty consistent letdown for me. I know this is something different. That’s the idea! But if there are glaring holes that better SSD captains will see, I want them pointed out.

So, after a decently long absence from Armada (during which we learned X-Wing over TTS), my main play-partner and I have jumped back in with a few Clone Wars games. Our most recent game matched my Bail Organa (with two carrier-type Acclamator-I’s, a large multirole squadron presence, and a Comms Net-equipped Radiant VII) against his Count Dooku (commanding three Munificents, a decent number of Vulture droids and Grievous). Dooku seems absolutely awful. Organa and a simple and obvious turn 1 token grab made him half useless, and Comms Net did the rest of the job almost effortlessly. My opponent correctly chose to Raid against Squadrons, Squadrons, and Navigation, and even picked what I thought were the optimal times to use them, but I basically ignored the raid tokens or cleared them easily. It certainly helped that a small bid on my part allowed me to force my opponent to take first player and pick from my objectives, but it seems silly that a 30-point commander is such a chump against not only the best commander in the opposing faction, but also a commonly-seen 2-point upgrade. Has anyone had wildly different experiences with Dooku? Or am I right in assessing him as basically unplayable?

Hey everyone! As someone who spends a decent amount of time in the Fleet Builds sub forum, I’d like to make a totally informal und completely unofficial request... When you’re copy/pasting a list here, take a minute to put a space in your list after each ship. For example: CR-90B (39) Raymus Antilles (7) SW-7 Ion Cannons (5) Ship total = 51 CR-90A (44) Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7) Ship total = 51 GR-75 Medium Transport (18) Comms Net (2) Bright Hope (2) Ship total = 22 As opposed to: CR-90B (39) Raymus Antilles (7) SW-7 Ion Cannons (5) Ship total = 51 CR-90A (44) Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7) Ship total = 51 GR-75 Medium Transport (18) Comms Net (2) Bright Hope (2) Ship total = 22... See the difference? It’s a small thing, but it’s so much easier to read. Thanks!

I thought for sure I signed up as Cpt ObVus. For some reason I’m showing up as “jerknapp,” which is part of my email address. Can I change my username?
