I am not a painter. That's why armada spoke to me so profoundly when it came out and what's kept me out of Legion.
After years of thinking about it, I recently started painting my CW squadrons. Very crudely. Not doing things the correct way with the correct materials. And incredibly...they turned out amazing! I'm so proud of them (but still too much of a wimp to post in the painting sub-forum).
Now the Downside...I AM NOW CRAZY ABOUT DETAILS AND AM NOTICING EVERY INCONSISTENCY. Not just my squadrons, but the new releases as well. I just picked up two Providence class ships and I'm seeing the different quality of washes, literal paint drips of the wrong color, weird textures from dust being painted over. It's one of those classic cases of being happily content in my ignorance to now being disappointed, expecting the same level of 'perfection' I used to think these models had.
Now I know.
Can't wait for the rest of the wave.
