Howdy everybody, hope you all have a great weekend, and for those in the States, have a good 4th of July! I hope you all get a long weekend.
Question of the week: Do you like the idea of 3D terrain? Do you want any? I fear it will be more of a hassle than it is worth, given the number of times per game things overlap or are placed on them, but I have seen some really cool examples of it.
It's not something I've ever wanted, but I'm more of a function over form person.
3D Terrain is great when you are trying to showoff the game (Store demo) or on film (YouTube presentations). However for regular game play, it doesn't add much and you wind up moving the pieces around a lot. Having said that, sometimes a little bit of "flair" livens up the games.
I have scratch built astroids and stations that I like using all the time.
I'm ambivalent. Several of my opponents have 3d terrain, of varying quality. It can look nice on the table, and I rarely find that it gets in the way, but it's not particularly important to me.
