Obviously haven’t selected objectives yet. The idea here is that Ravager does everything, and the Gozantis are merely there for Comms Net support. Basically, one of them feeds Take Evasive Action each turn, while the other passes the SSD whichever token it happens to need to use Piett on. Take Evasive Action will sometimes provide all the maneuverability I need, but when it doesn‘t, it should be easy to get a second click with Piett turning a Nav token into a Nav dial. On the turns TEA does all the maneuvering I need, Piett can default to Engineering, or (if the timing is right), Squadrons, to push that light fighter screen around. With Ravager & Krennic, I’m imagining that ConFire dials all day will be what I want for Ravager itself.
Why not Jerjerrod? 2-5 points of damage over the course of the game to never have to worry about a Nav command, for just one point more is a good deal, right? Well, sometimes it is, I suppose. And yes, there’s a hidden cost of 6 points in the Piett option for TEA. Arguably more, if you count the Comms Nets, and arguably, the Gozantis too. But here’s the thing: I’ve never yet found an SSD Assault Prototype fleet that I liked, that could reliably handle squadrons, or even slow them down. This fleet gives me three activations, several deployments, pretty ****** decent firepower on the SSD, and takes full advantage of Krennic & Ravager, without damaging myself, and I think it even gives me the command flexibility to use Piett to really make Engineering tokens count. Gaining back 4-6 points of shields, and NOT taxing myself for 2-5 shields over the game’s course adds up. The fact that I can occasionally command squadrons is also good, but I have no illusions about this fighter screen; against a serious fighter presence, it’s a speed bump, nothing more. And that’s fine.
Give me your thoughts and concerns and criticism! I’m the first to admit that I have had little success with the SSD, and I desperately want to believe that it can work, but I have no faith in the Jerjerrod Assault variants; they’re a pretty consistent letdown for me. I know this is something different. That’s the idea! But if there are glaring holes that better SSD captains will see, I want them pointed out.
I would suggest dropping Krennic and swapping him for something like leading shots. Krennic is just too range dependent and your opponents will get in close. I'm not a huge fan of the command prototype but I see what you're going with by using it.
Here's one that I have used to pretty devastating effect
