Hey everyone, I'd like to try out Mon Mothma and have come up with two lists I kinda like. Having never played with her as commander, thought I'd ask what you guys thought about them.

Total Points: 391
Yes, I know, an odd number of squadrons. But points are tight as I want a reasonable bid for first. AFM2 can bank a squad token first round and use Hondo for another token, giving it two rounds of activating four squads. And with Lando being rogue, he should be fine. Name: Mon Pelta
Faction: Rebel
Commander: Mon Mothma
Assault: Ion Storm
Defense: Hyperspace Assault
Navigation: Solar Corona
Pelta Command Ship (60)
• Mon Mothma (27)
• Skilled First Officer (1)
• Intensify Firepower! (6)
• Expanded Hangar Bay (5)
= 99 Points
MC30c Scout Frigate (69)
• Lando Calrissian (4)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• External Racks (4)
• Foresight (8)
= 89 Points
MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• Walex Blissex (5)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• External Racks (4)
• Admonition (6)
= 82 Points
CR90 Corvette A (44)
• Hondo Ohnaka (2)
• Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
• Jaina's Light (2)
= 55 Points
Squadrons:
• Jan Ors (19)
• Biggs Darklighter (19)
• 2 x X-wing Squadron (26)
= 64 Points
Total Points: 389
Pelta can hang in back a bit more and command squadrons and/or use IF! MC30s beefed up a bit more on the defenses since they'll be running in front.
As follow-up, ended up going with this list. Name: Mon MSU Faction: Rebel Commander: Mon Mothma
Assault: Ion Storm Defense: Hyperspace Assault Navigation: Solar Corona
MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63) • Expert Shield Tech (5) • Ordnance Experts (4) • Assault Concussion Missiles (5) = 77 Points
MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63) • Skilled First Officer (1) • Ordnance Experts (4) • Assault Concussion Missiles (5) • Foresight (8) = 81 Points
CR90 Corvette A (44) • Mon Mothma (27) • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7) • Jaina's Light (2) = 80 Points
CR90 Corvette A (44) • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7) = 51 Points
GR-75 Medium Transports (18) • Expanded Hangar Bay (5) • Bright Hope (2) = 25 Points
Squadrons: • Shara Bey (17) • Tycho Celchu (16) • Lando Calrissian (23) • E-wing Squadron (15) = 71 Points
Total Points: 385
Played against a double ISD list with a small fighter compliment. I opted to go first and picked his Contested Outpost objective.
My list did very well, clearing out 3 of his 4 squads and his flagship ISD II. Overall I was rather happy with it.
I much prefer the 1st list, the Pelta is very slow and an Intel Officer Onanger will pick it off easily.
An Assault Frigate has one of each standard defence token which can easily be locked down with an accuracy or threatened with Intel Officer (you spend it, you lose it). An MC30 has two evades and two redirects. With the Foresight title, each evade affects an additional dice, and each redirect can pass damage onto an extra adjacent hull zone. So if you get hit by a ship on your front hull, that’s two dice gone with an evade at long or medium (With Mothma). Then spend a redirect, and so long as your opponent doesn’t have XI7 turbolasers, that’s 9 damage to take on shields before hull damage (5 I think with XI7’s). I think I got that all right lol. So, a MC30 is quite tanky. Do not park yourself in a ships arc and take the damage, because you can get wiped out in one shot if you’re not careful. What you do with these ships is as last activation on turn x, start out of red or just in red range at about speed 2, preferably with a banked nav token. Then on your activation, use a nav dial/and or token to get yourself up to speed to land next to your opponent in black dice range (make sure you have an escape route planned). Then at the start of turn x+1, fire into your opponent and get out of dodge. Two blue and five black (six with a confire, of which two are rerollable) may not fully destroy a big ship but will certainly ruin its day. Have you second MC30 lined up to rinse, repeat. I myself prefer to use ACM’s over External Racks, but you actually need the points. The other alternative is Assault Proton Toroedoes. I like these as well, but if you are unsure of getting multiple attacks in over several turns then stick with Ex Racks. If funds are available, when MC30’s become available, I’d recommend getting a third one, and if you haven’t already a GR75. This can get you a list of six ships, 3 MC30’s, CR90A (+TRC), CR90B, GR75, Shara and Tycho, for about 381 (no Foresight though). Hope that helps. I’d recommend sticking with Torpedo variants for now.
It is hard to be able to last/first a lot of lists with 4 ships which is what you should be doing with a Mothma list. Looking at your second list you don’t have a lot of token generation outside of Hondo or banking them with the Pelta. If you had one, a GR-75 with Comms Net would be great and have Ahsoka Tano on the Pelta.
I would definitely have a squadron presence too. I used to run a squadronless Ozzel list and the best I could get was a 7-4 as I always needed to sacrifice at least a ship. The squadron choice you have there is a good one but if you have them, I would recommend for a Mothma list Shara and Tycho as all they need to do is clog up the enemy fighters for a few turns before dying whilst your MC30’s get in and cause damage.
This is what I would recommend: -
MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63) • Mon Mothma (27) • Ordnance Experts (4) • External Racks (4) • Foresight (8) = 106 Points
MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63) • Ordnance Experts (4) • External Racks (4) = 71 Points
CR90 Corvette A (44) • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7) • Jaina's Light (2) = 53 Points
CR90 Corvette B (39) • SW-7 Ion Batteries (5) = 44 Points
Assault Frigate Mk2 B (72) • Linked Turbolaser Towers (7) = 79 Points
Squadrons: • Shara Bey (17) • Tycho Celchu (16) = 33 Points
Total Points: 386
A better bid, and five activations. MC30’s are lean. If I run Scout MC30’s I like to either have Ackbar and put TRC’s and an Intel Officer. This way my good dice rolls have a chance of sticking. A bid of 386 isn’t guaranteed to win but it has a good chance. Change your Solar Corona objective too as if you are second you will be playing Solar Corona a lot 😉.
I hope this helps, if you have any other questions please feel free to post back. Bear in mind these are my thoughts, and there are better players out there than me, but I do like my MC30’s!
Mothma is great on MC30’s and CR90’s because if their 2 evades. If you have more of those models then stick them in a list rather than the Assault Frigate or Pelta. You don’t need to fill your MC30’s with a ton of upgrades either. Let me know if you have a third MC30 available.
