Probably not the most practical fleet, but the idea was really amusing. The whole fleet engineers every turn (except a few early squadron commands). All ships regain one shield free, engineers for 4 or 5 points, and can get 6 free shields from the other ships. That is, a Neb2 can lose ALL its shields and have them back next turn! 😁
(Note: Kyrsta for a Salvo token. To add some kind of offensive power!)
Name: Soaks Faction: Rebel Commander: Kyrsta Agate
Assault: Defense: Navigation:
Pelta Command Ship (60) • Ray Antilles (7) • Projection Experts (6) • Shields to Maximum! (6) = 79 Points
Nebulon-B Support Refit (51) • Hondo Ohnaka (2) • Projection Experts (6) • Quad Battery Turrets (5) = 64 Points
Nebulon-B Support Refit (51) • Projection Experts (6) • Quad Battery Turrets (5) • Redemption (8) = 70 Points
MC80 Command Cruiser (106) • Kyrsta Agate (20) • Skilled First Officer (1) • Projection Experts (6) • Flak Guns (3) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) • Point Defense Ion Cannons (4) • Linked Turbolaser Towers (7) = 154 Points
Squadrons: • Norra Wexley (17) • Tycho Celchu (16) = 33 Points
Total Points: 400
ProjExp is part of the whole fleet meme, so they should stay! 😋 Also it's questionable if it would help against flankers - the way I see it the risk is somebody moving in behind the MC80.
I think the best bet will be to simply focus-fire down any enemy trying to move that way. It's a fair number of dice out to long range.
Oups, should have been Shara... Remember kids, don't drink and klick! 😅
The idea behind the MC80 is to try and keep it between the enemy and the rest of the fleet. Admittedly a bit optimistic. Making it more dangerous has some merit.
Thought given the whole idea behind the fleet the best defensive upgrade may be advanced projectors. After all you can get 9(!) shields back each round. I'll have to think about dropping some stuff to get Defiance on it.
If I was playing against this fleet I'd try to avoid the MC80 and pick off the Nebulons one at a time. The Command Carrier needs to be more of a threat so it can't be ignored.
If you drop Hondo you could set up the MC80 like this, using Agate for a 2nd brace instead of a Salvo:
[ flagship ] MC80 Command Cruiser (106 points)
- Kyrsta Agate (com) ( 20 points)
- Defiance ( 5 points)
- Skilled First Officer ( 1 points)
- Projection Experts ( 6 points)
- Flak Guns ( 3 points)
- Reactive Gunnery ( 4 points)
- Quad Battery Turrets ( 5 points)
- Leading Shots ( 6 points)
= 156 total ship cost
Reactive Gunnery is a bit more reliable than a native Salvo, and I like double brace a bit better than single brace + ECM. Especially because Agate Commander provides a pseudo ECM effect and you don't have an easy source of Repair tokens in the list.
Edit: I've switched the weapons upgrades to further boost damage output. A QBT+Defiance double arc + Salvo deals 11 dice at long range, and 16 at medium, which is a real beating. Compare that to 7 and 12 for the defensive build.
Looks interesting! Why Norra instead of Shara?
